Columbarium

The name “columbarium” is derived from the Latin “Columba” or “dovecote,” the dove being the symbol of God’s spirit and peace. A columbarium is a resting place for human ashes or cremated remains.

Today, many people appreciate an alternative that offers beauty and simplicity to public cemetery burial.

The Memorial Garden and Columbarium of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church of Quincy, Florida was consecrated in 2001 and has been established for parishioners and their immediate family members to provide for the reverent, Christian placement of cremated remains in an atmosphere of holiness and serenity.

The Memorial Garden and Columbarium are under the direction of the church vestry. A lay person is in charge of handling arrangements for the reservation of the niches or the internment of ashes in the ground.

If a service is desired, you may contact the church office to schedule a date and time with the Rector of the parish who will officiate.

Payment must be received, and a contract signed in order to reserve a niche or ground site for immediate burial or future use. The contract states the rules governing the use of the Memorial Garden.

Niches are available on the west and south walls of the garden; in- ground internment is available in the northwest corner.

The cost for a niche is $1,500. The cost for in-ground internment is $500. Each price includes a bronze nameplate noting the name, birth and death dates of the interred.

Ordering the plate and the engraving thereon is handled by St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
